These Persephone Bookends, inspired by the Greek Goddess emblematic of the Renaissance, are fittingly located in the library on top of an ornate slant-front bookrack designed by Richard Morris Hunt, Biltmore House architect. The library was said to be Mr. Vanderbilt's most cherished room in the house where he displayed 10,000 volumes of books out of his collection of 23,000.
