Product Description

Details

The merchant vessel, "William H. Vanderbilt", transported lumber and iron ore across the Great Lakes for 17 years. During a furious storm in 1883, the vessel was driven aground and while all the crew was saved, waves tore the vessel apart and pushed its remains to sink into deeper water. It is likely that George Vanderbilt inherited the painting from his father, William H. Vanderbilt. This framed version measures 11x14.
