“Nile Cat is a grand middle-grade adventure that sweeps readers back in time… Highly recommended.” —Historical Novel Society
“Set in Egypt, this is a compelling adventure story. Highly recommended.” —A Wishing Shelf Book Review
“A terrific thriller… set in Victorian and ancient Egypt.” —Pat Remler, Egyptologist, author of EGYPTIAN MYTHOLOGY A-Z
The Author’s Connection to Egypt…
Angela Cecil Reid is a descendent of Mary Rothes Margaret Tyssen-Amherst Cecil, who was fascinated by her father’s Egyptological collection at Didlington Hall, her family estate in England. This is the same collection that inspired a young Howard Carter to pursue Egyptian Archaeology. With this connection, it’s no surprise Angela acknowledges “an Egyptian thread that runs through much of my work,” and that Egypt is “in her genes.”
…and to the Vanderbilt Family
Mary’s son John Francis Amherst Cecil married George and Edith Vanderbilt’s daughter, Cornelia Stuyvesant Vanderbilt in 1924.
